Service Description
The goal of pediatric gynecology is to provide girls with answers to their questions about their bodies in a safe, friendly environment from a very young age, and to recognize problems in time that could cause difficulties later. A pediatric gynecological examination is different from an adult examination. The emphasis is on a sense of security, a calm environment, and age-appropriate communication. The consultation takes place in a non-judgmental, friendly, relaxed atmosphere. The goal is to have an experience that confirms in the patient that healthcare is safe and that they can confidently seek help in the future. As a parent, it is often difficult to decide whether a symptom is a natural phenomenon or whether professional help is needed. Examination is definitely recommended in the following cases: - unusual, unpleasant-smelling or discolored vaginal discharge - recurrent redness, itching, pain in the genital area - painful or difficult urination - delayed or premature onset of menstruation - irregular, excessively heavy or very painful menstruation - suspicion of a developmental disorder - signs of early or late puberty - questions about sexual life, contraception, intimate hygiene The examination is always carried out in an age-appropriate, gentle manner, often with a simple conversation, external examination or abdominal ultrasound. The goal in all cases is for the child to feel safe.
